In my off-camera flash workshops, I’m here to help photographers in Salt Lake City, Lehi, and Ogden truly master off-camera flash—building the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to control light in any setting. Whether you’re new to off-camera flash or looking to refine your techniques, this workshop is packed with valuable insights and hands-on training to help you harness the power of artificial lighting.
We’ll start by breaking down the essentials, covering nine core lighting placements and understanding how each one impacts mood, depth, and style. This foundational knowledge will give you more control over lighting setups, allowing you to adapt your style whether you're capturing headshots, branding photos, fitness shots, or boudoir photography.
Next, we’ll dive into light modifiers—diffusers, softboxes, reflectors, grids, and more—so you’ll understand when to use each and how they transform the quality of light to suit your creative vision. I’ll guide you through adjusting light power, empowering you to fine-tune intensity based on the effect you want, even in tricky scenarios like harsh indoor light or low-light settings.
You’ll also gain practical experience with techniques like bouncing light to fill shadows, reflecting light to add highlights, and “being the light”—stepping into a scene to analyze and create the desired effect with just one or two lights. These workshops go beyond showing you “what” to do; they’re all about helping you understand the “why” behind each technique. With hands-on practice using a professional model, you’ll leave with a portfolio of stunning shots and a solid foundation to light any scene confidently.
